There was a Tuesday this summer. Nothing was finished. The list was still long. And I sat outside with something cold to drink anyway, just because the afternoon was beautiful and I was tired. That used to feel like cheating. Now I know it was the point.
Somewhere along the way, a lot of us learned that rest has to be deserved. That you sit still only after everything is done. But everything is never done. And a life spent waiting for permission to exhale is not the soft life. It's just a slower version of the same pressure.
The becoming isn't only about what you're growing into. It's about what you're finally letting yourself enjoy right now, before the next thing, before the milestone, before the conditions are perfect. The soft moment is not a reward. It is the practice.
“You do not have to finish everything before you are allowed to feel at ease. Ease is something you choose, not something you earn.”
